Created in 1999, the French Association Kokopelli was formerly known as Terre de Semences, an association that had been striving to protect seed and vegetable biodiversity since 1994.

Many Kokopelli branches have sprung up around the world (India, Mali, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, etc).

Their mission is to give seed autonomy back to people who do not have enough to eat and for others, it is a means of increasing the availability of hard-to-find heritage varieties.

The seeds offered by the Quebec Kokopelli branch are all open-pollinated, which means that when certain principles are respected, they retain all of their characteristics from one generation to another.

Several of the varieties that will be produced are Quebec heritage varieties developed here by Quebec researchers but that were unfortunately replaced by hybrids.

The Quebec Kokopelli branch is the first in North America.
