Jeunes pousses was founded in the spring of 2005 by three professionals from the health, education and agri-food industries, in response to numerous concerns regarding Quebec children’s and adolescents’ eating habits.

In the spring of 2006, Jeunes pousses launched its pilot project Un trésor dans mon jardin (A Treasure in My Garden). Starting at school or even daycare, this project aims to implement sustainable changes in youngsters’ eating habits and environments by bringing them closer every day to their food source.

- Content cards for taste discovery workshops. Six workshops per cycle and one for daycare;

- Learning situation grids per cycle intended for teachers;

- Educational grids for parents.

This program is based on track-proven projects in the U.S. (FEED Program in Vermont) and Europe (L’éveil au goût chez les enfants in France, Switzerland and Italy) which have clearly demonstrated that bringing youngsters and their family closer to their food source has a major impact on their food intake and on creating links with local producers.

The project is ongoing in several area schools and daycares.
