Sanders Farm is a diversified organic (biodynamic) farm selling fresh vegetables and strawberries. The farm is situated in Quebec's Eastern Townships on the Quebec-Vermont border 25 km south of
Sherbrooke, 25 km north of Newport, Vermont.
Our family has been farming this farm since 1974. It has always been organic and a pioneer in organic and biodynamic farming in this area.
We grow approximately 30 acres of vegetables and strawberries in our fields and produce tomatoes and cucumbers in our 10 greenhouses totalling 24,000 square feet. The rest of the 100 acre farm
is woodland and fields in rotation with green manures and hay crops for a small herd of Dexter cattle.
Most of our produce is sold wholesale through Deep Root Organic Coop of Waterbury Vermont, then distributed throughout the Northeastern U.S.
Our products are available:
- At the farm throughout the year (please call us in advance especially during the winter months).
- At the North Hatley farmer's market, every Saturday morning between 10 a.m. and noon from the end June until the end September.
- Through participation in the Sanders Farm Family Boxes project in which receive certified organically grown fruits and vegetables all year round.
- In stores offering organic vegetables and at Les Ami(e)s de la terre de l’Estrie regional solidarity market.

Our organically grown strawberries are a very special treat and coming to the farm to pick the berries is a great activity
for the family. Children love strawberries and being in a field full of sweet red berries that require no washing is a pleasure that they and their parents will always remember.
We also sell pre-picked strawberries and are able to provide fresh or frozen strawberries for transformation.

Strawberry season is the peak of our farming year. Usually, the season extends from the end of June to mid-July. Please call us around mid-June to make sure the harvest is ready for picking or
to reserve your pre-picked strawberries. |

Farm Family Boxes provide a healthy, convenient way for busy families to ensure that they are eating properly. The concept is simple... the folks at Sanders Farm gather together a pleasing array
of organically grown vegetables and fruits (much of which is picked within 24 hours of being shipped to you), pack them in boxes and drop them off at a distribution point in Sherbrooke, ready for
you to pick up. Your purchase assures the highest quality produce at a fair price for you and your family while supporting small traditional farms and ecologically sound agriculture.

Organic farming :
is based on a philosophy of working in harmony with the cycles of nature. The ground is enriched with composts, green manure, organic soil conditioners and rock powders. Weed, animal
and disease control is assured by crop rotation, and mechanical or manual actions, the introduction of predators or use of natural pesticides. Organic farming is respecting traditions and a judicious
selection among what modern science has to offer.
Biodynamic farming :
is an organic farming method that looks
at each farm individually to try and create a self-sufficient eco-system. The basics of biodynamic farming were revealed in Germany by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), founder of anthroposophy. The word
biodynamics originates from the Greek, Bios: life, and Dynamis : strength, energy. It describes a holistic vision of the comprehension of nature, recognizing the forces which modulate the growth
of living organisms. In addition to the living earth, light, the heat of the sun and rhythms of the moon, planets and stars are all taken into consideration. Through a global approach and applications,
biodynamic farming seeks to invigorate the soil which is the fundamental link in creating healthy food that is well-balanced for plants, animals and humans.
