BioBon’s Veggie Pâté: Trying It Is Adopting It
The history of BioBon is fascinating. This uniquely flavored veggie pâté that is available in most grocery stores comes from Coaticook.
It all began in 1993 when the founder, Pasquale Beauvais, decided to start cooking. Little by little, she started making many pastries with seasonal products for farmers in the region. This adventure led her to the North Hatley Farmers’ Market where she was selling her baked goods. The departure of another merchant who offered veggie pâté gave Pasquale the opportunity to add to her menu her own veggie pâté that she cooked especially for her daughter, who, at a young age, did not want to eat meat. Aware of the importance of both flavor and texture, she developed a recipe for a veggie pâté that resembled meat. In fact, a butcher once asked her what meat her famous pâté was made from! An anecdote that clearly shows that BioBon’s products can please everyone, even avid carnivores.
So, after a while at the North Hatley Farmers’ Market, the demand for her veggie-pâtés began to increase (at the time she was only producing 12 per week.) Many people from Montreal asked her where they could find her product. Seeing the popularity of her veggie-pâté, Pasquale bought a machine that could vacuum-seal her products as well as officially incorporating her company, BioBon, in 2003.
Since then, the company has continued to grow. Lahbib Aissaoui became Pasquale’s partner in the firm. Sustainable development, importance of employees, growth, they have a lot of ideas and have BioBon at heart. Each ingredient is meticulously chosen to ensure exceptional quality and to keep the integrity and essence of their products. In addition, Lahbib and Pasquale only use ingredients that come from local and Quebec producers.
BioBon has come a long way since its creation in 2003. Today, the company produces more than 12,950 veggie-pâtés per week for its distributors located throughout Quebec. The company is growing and it’s not over yet: for example, the remodeling of their factory and the purchase of various pieces of equipment would make it possible to increase their production fivefold. All of these projects are developed with their employees at heart, the family atmosphere and the love put in the making of the products that all play a big role in the quality and production of the veggie pâtés.
Thus, we invite you to purchase their products in most grocery stores in Quebec.
